Position: Transmission Grid Analyst


Highfield Energy’s US team in Dallas, TX is currently seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified applicants to fill the position of Transmission Grid Analyst for renewable energy projects. The successful applicant with take responsibility for delivering interconnection arrangements for a multi-GW renewable development portfolio across several US states. This role is suited to dynamic energetic individuals wishing to work as part of a high achieving team in a fast paced environment. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Transmission Grid Analyst will be responsible for delivering and optimising interconnection solutions for large scale renewable energy projects. The essential deliverable is providing commercially focused engineering advice to inform decision making on interconnections.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant should be able to:

  • Complete feasibility assessments and evaluate interconnection options for large scale renewable energy projects in multiple US Markets including ERCOT, SPP, MISO, Southeast, Southwest and PJM;  

  • Provide advice on interconnection strategy, cost minimisation, congestion assessment and basis risk to support development targets;

  • Manage and be responsible for the process of grid applications, ensuring they are submitted in a timely manner and progress without delays;

  • Liaise with consultants, contractors and network operators to support interconnection optimisation and project delivery; 

  • Present technical concepts to non-technical internal/external stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format;

  • Coordinate with Highfield Energy Inc team members, including land acquisition, permitting, engineering and finance team members.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • 4-year degree required; An Electrical Engineering Degree qualification is desirable. Further qualifications in the areas of Renewable Energy will also be considered;

  • 5+ years’ experience in energy infrastructure analysis in US energy markets;

  • Experience with high level economic and reliability assessments for transmission system optimization;

  • Experience with power flow modeling software such as PSSE, MUST, TARA, and/or PowerWorld an advantage;

  • Working knowledge of transmission market operations;

  • Working knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy operations;

  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product;

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
