Site Overview
Located in Co. Wexford, Rosspile Solar Farm is being developed within the townlands of Coolcliffe, Rosspile, Haresmead, Raheenduff, and Horetown North, situated near the village of Foulkesmills. The land is primarily agricultural and is close to several small villages along with numerous one-off rural dwellings. The existing land use is arable, pasture, and broadleaved forestry plantation. Hedgerows and field drainage predominantly separate individual fields and buildings.At the time of its submission, this development was the largest planning application for ground mounted solar PV nationwide. Planning permission for this site is currently on appeal with An Bord Pleanala and the development includes for include one IPP control building and associated compound, MV station, electrical transformer/inverter station modules, battery storage modules, solar PV panels ground mounted on steel support structures, storage containers, CCTV cameras, access roads, fencing and associated electrical cabling, ducting and ancillary infrastructure. A Natura Impact Statement accompanies this application.The site is proximate to existing electrical infrastructure and the current grid connection point is projected as the the existing Wexford - Great Island 110kV line running through the site.The connection infrastructure has been deemed a Strategic Infrastructure Development by An Bord Pleanála. This solar farm is being developed by Highfield Energy as part of our broader commitment to a sustainable future.
