Site Overview
Located in Co. Wicklow, Ballinclea Lower Solar Farm is being developed within the townlands of Ballinclea, Ballyrichard and Templerainey. The site is approximately 3 km from Arklow town which lies south of the site. The site itself consists of arable land for the production of crops and improved grassland used for the grazing of livestock. The Solar Farm will be situated on shallow sloping agricultural land at an approximate elevation of 50-80m AOD.
Planning permission for this site was granted by An Bord Pleanala in 2019 and includes for 11 No. Conditions. The grant includes for one single storey electrical substation building, electrical transformer/inverter station modules, solar PV panels ground mounted on steel support structures, access roads, fencing and associated electrical cabling, ducting and ancillary infrastructure.
The site is proximate to existing electrical infrastructure and the current grid connection point is projected as the Arklow 110kV substation local to the site.
