Located in Co. Waterford, Amberhill Solar Farm is being developed within the townland of Amberhill approximately 1.8 km from the village of Kilmeaden which lies east of the site. The site itself is a working farm of moderate grade agricultural value, with tillage land and improved grassland for the grazing of stock. There are existing farm tracks on the site to be used for access to the development. The Solar Farm will be situated on shallow sloping agricultural land currently used for grazing of stock at an approximate elevation of 75-90m AOD.

Planning permission for this site was granted by Waterford City and County Council in 2017 and includes for 11 No. Conditions. The grant includes for one single storey electrical substation building, electrical transformer/inverter station modules, solar PV panels ground mounted on steel support structures, access roads, fencing and associated electrical cabling, ducting and ancillary infrastructure.

The site is proximate to existing electrical infrastructure and the current grid connection point is projected as the Kilmeaden 38kV substation local to the site.
